- Chapter 9 - You're Rebelling, Are You?
“Are you deaf? I’m talking to you! Tell me, is it true or false?!” Luo Lan said with an icy tone.
“I… I… I….” Loa was terrified by Luo Lan’s roar, his heart trembling. He had never imagined that one day he would be so afraid of someone younger than himself. It was simply unbelievable. He had lived in the tribe for so many years and knew Luo Lan’s character. But ever since Luo Lan woke up from his coma, he had completely changed. That confidence, composure, domineering aura, and authority—these were all things he had never seen in the former Luo Lan.
“Speak!!” Luo Lan roared.
“I… I don’t know, I really don’t know. We haven’t even gone to check on the traps in the forest today!”
Loa was too scared of Luo Lan to lie, so he could only honestly speak the truth.
“Heh, you haven’t even checked, yet you say my prey is yours. How bold of you, you dogs!! You four, with your blatant lies, attempting to deceive the tribesmen—this is a grave crime and must be severely punished. As the chief of the tribe, I must handle this impartially. I sentence you to thirty lashes!!”
Luo Lan said coldly, seemingly without a hint of emotion.
Hearing they were to receive thirty lashes, Botu’s three confidantes and his son, Bohr, all showed expressions of fear and defiance.
Bohr even raged, “Luo Lan, don’t think that just because you’ve become chief, you can do whatever you want. You abused your power and killed my father! I will never rest until I avenge myself against you! I won’t submit to you!!”
“Won’t submit to me? I am the chief now, and you refuse to submit to me? Are you saying you want to rebel, then?!” Luo Lan looked at Bohr coldly.
Bohr was the same age as him, and quite strong. Although not as strong as his father, Botu, he was definitely a tough opponent. In the past, he might not have been able to handle this guy, but now it was different. Since his father, Botu, had been killed by him, this son naturally couldn’t be left alive. He understood the principle of nipping evil in the bud. However, since he was currently in front of the tribesmen, he couldn’t just kill someone casually, so he had to first pin a crime on the other party. He was just racking his brain for what crime to use, and now, wasn’t this guy delivering himself up on a platter?!
“Hmph, you killed my father. Our blood feud is irreconcilable. Do you still expect me to submit to you? If it’s rebellion, then so be it! Brothers, kill him!”
With things having escalated to this point, Bohr knew he had no retreat. The Luo Lan before him would absolutely not let him go, so he stopped pretending and decided to reveal his cards and fight. If he won, he would be the tribe’s new chief. If he lost, at worst, he would still die.
As he roared, the surrounding confidantes exchanged glances. Then, a ruthless glint flashed in their eyes, and they simultaneously drew their long swords.
Immediately, the four men stood with long swords, glaring menacingly at Luo Lan, looking as if they intended to cut him down.
Facing the threats of the four, Luo Lan’s expression remained calm, completely ignoring them. Not only was he not afraid, but he was secretly pleased. This way, he finally had a sufficient reason to kill these guys.
“My tribesmen, you have all witnessed this. Bohr is deliberately inciting rebellion, disrupting our tribe’s harmony, and attempting to endanger the safety of our entire tribe. Can you, as tribesmen, stand by and watch such ambition? If he succeeds today, then our entire tribe might be destroyed by his hands. What do you say we should do?”
Facing the threat from Bohr and his group, Luo Lan did not directly confront them but chose to shift the conflict. After all, the tribe was not his alone, but the tribe of all tribesmen. At this moment, for him to face four opponents alone would clearly be a disadvantage. Therefore, the best solution was to shift the conflict to involve the entire tribe. This way, he could use the tribe’s strength to round them all up.
Sure enough, as he said this, the crowd immediately became agitated.
“Bohr, you are too outrageous! Your father died at Luo Lan’s hands because of the chief’s succession struggle. How can you call that an abuse of power?”
“According to tribal law, if someone dies in the chief’s succession struggle, the other party is absolutely not to be held responsible. Yet you’re using this as an excuse to plot rebellion. Where do you put our tribal laws?”
“What revenge for his father? I think he just wants to find an excuse to rebel. He has a wolf’s ambition, and his heart should be condemned!”
“Our tribe has just suffered an attack from the orcs. Now is the time when we need to be united, yet you are plotting rebellion. Do you want to kill all of us tribesmen?”
Upon discovering Bohr’s ambition, the tribesmen began to condemn him, just as Luo Lan had anticipated. To get outsiders to help oneself, the best way is not to beg them. It is to make the matter involve everyone’s interests, and then they will naturally participate. Interest is always the best way to bind relationships, without exception.
“Kill him! Kill him!”
Just then, Luo Lan’s personal guard, Artu, shouted in support. As he shouted, some of the surrounding tribesmen immediately followed suit. Then more and more tribesmen echoed them until the shouts were deafening and thought-provoking.
Bohr had not expected Luo Lan to deal with their rebellion in such a way. Instantly, expressions of panic appeared on their faces. If it was just dealing with Luo Lan alone, they had absolute confidence. But if they were to fight against the entire tribe, it would be like throwing an egg against a rock, and the consequences were unimaginable.
Seeing that the desired effect had been achieved, Luo Lan looked at the few followers standing beside Bohr. With a hint of playfulness, he said, “You see? Plotting rebellion means becoming an enemy of the entire tribe. There is only one outcome: death. Do the three of you really want to stand with Bohr and become enemies of the entire tribe?”
Upon hearing this, the few people standing beside Bohr exchanged glances, and a hint of hesitation appeared in their eyes.
Seeing this, Bohr inwardly cursed, “This Luo Lan wants to sow discord among us!”
With that thought, he immediately roared, “What are you three idiots standing there for? Don’t tell me you think he’ll let you go? He’s trying to divide us. He wants to defeat us one by one. If he succeeds, we’re dead! Quick, attack!”
Bohr wasn’t stupid and immediately understood Luo Lan’s intentions, so he roared and launched an attack first towards Luo Lan. He held his long sword and fiercely swung it towards Luo Lan’s head, attempting to kill him with one blow.
But Luo Lan, who was already prepared, would not let him succeed so easily. Just then, he suddenly raised his right palm, which was wrapped in coarse linen, and aimed it at Bohr’s head. Before anyone could figure out why Luo Lan was making such a strange move, a palm cannon suddenly shot out.
It directly blasted open the linen wrapped around his hand, then struck Bohr’s forehead with lightning speed. The terrifying impact directly blew off half of Bohr’s skull.
Suddenly, Bohr, who had just been arrogantly shouting for revenge, fell straight down, dead beyond revival.
This scene immediately plunged the entire crowd into silence. Everyone stared wide-eyed at Luo Lan’s palm, their faces filled with terror.
