Time rewinds to before Sang Wuyan and Su Nianqin’s wedding.

One day, Su Nianqin walked out of the study, “Wuyan, I have a long holiday. Let’s go on a trip.”

Sang Wuyan was surprised. This man actually wanted to go on vacation, in his heart, going out was always seen as a torment.

“Didn’t the doctor say I should rest? Xiaolu is handling company matters, and she said there’s no problem either,” Su Nianqin calmly explained his unusual actions.

“Where do you want to go?” Su Nianqin asked.

He had finally developed the habit of asking for her opinion, but Sang Wuyan made his patience almost impossible to sustain well.

She flipped through geography magazines and travel books everywhere. At one point, she shouted, “Nianqin, let’s go to Egypt!”

Before Su Nianqin could even turn down the radio volume and respond, he heard her say, “No, I heard the situation isn’t good.”

Su Nianqin said, “Wuyan, shouldn’t you listen to my opinion?”

But the woman acted as if she hadn’t heard.

The man closed his mouth, trying hard to calmly continue focusing on the news he was listening to.

After half an hour, Sang Wuyan shouted again, “Let’s go to Hong Kong! Hong Kong is great, and we can shop!” She talked to herself, then shook her head, “Still no. Too many people, and you really don’t like shopping.” She dropped the book in her hand and picked up another.

Another half an hour passed, and she once again heard her shout, “Let’s go to Tibet!”

This time, Su Nianqin didn’t even bother to lift his head and changed the radio station. As he had predicted, in less than a minute, she negated herself again: “What if you get altitude sickness? That wouldn’t be good.”

So, in this way, Su Nianqin and the entire Earth were tormented by Sang Wuyan.

He tried his best to suppress his long-exhausted patience, repeatedly telling himself, “Su Nianqin, you must endure, you cannot get angry, otherwise you’ll have to suffer the bitter consequences yourself.”

Suddenly, Sang Wuyan, for the Nth time, excitedly ran over with a book, “Nianqin, let’s go to the Qin Dynasty!”

This time, Su Nianqin decided to leave her no room for maneuver. He quickly and decisively said, “Okay!” Cutting through the chaos swiftly, so she wouldn’t have another chance to torment each other.

One second later, the man came back to his senses, habitually squinting his eyes slightly, and asked incredulously, “Where did you say we’re going?” This woman was clearly messing with him for the N+1th time.

Sang Wuyan saw Su Nianqin’s face turn grim, about to erupt, and she quickly clung to him like an octopus.

“I’m just discussing it with you,” she said, a little guiltily, acting spoiled.

“So, what result did ‘we’ discuss?” He emphasized the two words. But as soon as she started shamelessly acting spoiled, his face just wouldn’t drop.

“The Qin Dynasty. We can go see the Qin Mausoleum and the Terracotta Army.”

At this point, Su Nianqin finally realized that the Qin Dynasty she was referring to was Xi’an.

This woman’s thought process is truly powerful in its leaps, Su Nianqin concluded.

Ever since making the decision and booking the flight, Sang Wuyan received at least five calls a day from Yu Xiaolu.

“When climbing the mountain, you should walk a little ahead of him, so Nianqin can feel your reactions.”

“Make sure he carries his phone and loose change with him, in case you two get lost.”

“When the light is strong, force him to wear sunglasses.”

“Don’t forget antiseptic spray and band-aids; he tends to stumble and often gets scrapes.”

“Choose a quieter hotel, and the bed must be comfortable; his back isn’t very good.”

Sang Wuyan categorized, organized, and recorded all the precautions in her notebook.

The day before their departure, Yu Xiaolu called again, “Nianqin, are you sure you don’t need to notify the branch office there to send a car to pick you up?”

“I’m sure!” Su Nianqin replied, a little ill-tempered.

Before 5 AM, Su Nianqin was already lying in bed, fast asleep. He had been busy for several days, barely sleeping, to get the company’s affairs in order and hand them over to Yu Xiaolu.

Sang Wuyan curled up in his arms, his left arm draped over her shoulder.

She suddenly recalled Yu Weilan’s instructions. She had said, “Nianqin has never traveled far alone with anyone like this. Please take good care of him.”

As it turned out, completely contrary to many people’s expectations.

It was entirely Su Nianqin who took care of her. Su Nianqin was responsible for the trip. Loose change and a mobile phone were things Su Nianqin repeatedly emphasized Sang Wuyan should carry with her.

After getting off the plane, Sang Wuyan, holding the travel guide, studied which bus to take into the city first, then at which stop to get off and which bus to take to their booked hotel. As it turned out, she pondered for a long time but couldn’t make heads or tails of it.

“Nianqin, go ask someone,” the head of the three-person tour group instructed the vice-head.

“No,” he never knew what “asking” meant.

“Then what do we do?” The group leader had no idea.

“Can you listen to me?” The vice-leader had endured enough.

“What?”

“You hail a taxi, and then we can go,” Su Nianqin said impatiently.

“…How are you so smart?”

In the taxi, Sang Wuyan gasped in distress, looking at the meter, “Why is it jumping so fast? Driver, you didn’t fiddle with your feet, did you?”

Both the driver and Su Nianqin were exasperated.

The next day, they rented a car and went to Lintong, hiring a tour guide from the hotel’s travel agency to accompany them. This was because Su Nianqin couldn’t guarantee that Sang Wuyan wouldn’t lose him along the way.

At the Qin Mausoleum, after listening to Big Lei, the guide, fully explain the underground palace, Sang Wuyan asked, wide-eyed, “You’re saying we have to wait another hundred years to see the underground palace?”

“Mm-hmm, because current technology cannot guarantee its complete preservation once we open it,” Big Lei explained.

“Then what about Meng Yi? Didn’t he discover the underground palace and fly around in it after going in?”

“Which Meng Yi?” Tour guide Big Lei was a little confused.

“It’s the Qin general who had an affair with Qin Shi Huang’s wife…” She hadn’t finished expressing herself when Su Nianqin covered her mouth, making her sound like she was saying “woo woo.”

“Do you have any historical common sense?” Su Nianqin felt embarrassed.

After a while, Sang Wuyan seized the opportunity again and said, “It’s the general that Jackie Chan played.”

“…”

“…”

Both Tour Guide Big Lei and Su Nianqin were speechless.

Su Nianqin couldn’t help but wonder, Did she come here on a whim just because of that movie?

Going to the Terracotta Army, Big Lei met a group of acquaintances. Sang Wuyan liked lively atmospheres and agreed to take a large bus with them. Su Nianqin didn’t want to dampen her spirits either.

On the bus, Su Nianqin’s disability and his appearance still drew frequent glances.

But no matter what Sang Wuyan chattered about, Su Nianqin remained silent with his eyes closed. He truly felt ashamed to have such a wife.

“Su Nianqin, if you keep ignoring me like this, I’m going to be unhappy.”

Su Nianqin closed his eyes, silent.

“Ahem, ahem,” Sang Wuyan cleared her throat, “Believe it or not, I’ll sing you a song?” She was resorting to her ultimate move.

“Which one of your songs do you think would be good to sing?” Sang Wuyan said smugly.

Su Nianqin spoke, “If you don’t quiet down, do you believe I’ll shut your mouth in front of them too?”

This move always worked on Sang Wuyan.

Indeed, Sang Wuyan quickly covered her lips.

Entering the massive exhibition hall of the Terracotta Army, Sang Wuyan let out a “Wow.”

“Magnificent!”

“This is the great crystallization of our Chinese people’s wisdom,” Big Lei said proudly.

“How come Qin Shi Huang’s army is full of such handsome and mighty young men?” Sang Wuyan explained the reason for her exclamation. “It’s truly incredible. How many are there, roughly?”

She asked Big Lei while making a mental count of handsome men.

Big Lei was a little surprised, but Su Nianqin was already used to it.

Big Lei explained and led them through several exhibition pits and artifact museums. As they exited the main gate, Sang Wuyan tugged Su Nianqin and said, “Nianqin, I want to go back and look again.”

So Su Nianqin accompanied her back again.

It wasn’t tourist season then; there were more foreigners than Chinese visitors, and it was already afternoon, so the area was even quieter. Sang Wuyan, in a secluded spot, facing the neatly arranged Terracotta Warriors across the railing, suddenly squatted down, propping her chin on her hand. “Nianqin, I don’t want to walk anymore.”

Su Nianqin also sat on the ground with her.

Sang Wuyan gently described every detail of the Terracotta Warriors to him with the most elaborate language she could muster: armor, clothing, hairstyles, expressions, facial features…

Su Nianqin listened with a happy smile.

“Are they really people from two thousand years ago?” she asked.

“They’re not real people, just terracotta figures.”

“I mean, were they made to resemble real people from that time?”

“Perhaps…” Su Nianqin wasn’t sure either.

“Nianqin, if you could see them, you would be moved too.”

“From your description, I’ve already seen them,” Su Nianqin smiled.

After the two were quiet for a while, Sang Wuyan noticed something. She led Su Nianqin to a spot and stopped, quickly looking around to make sure no one was watching. Only then did she let Su Nianqin squat down with her.

Then, Sang Wuyan guided Su Nianqin’s hand to reach over to the other side of the railing.

His arm slowly extended, and then, suddenly, Su Nianqin’s fingers touched something.

“Nianqin, do you feel it? This is the clay from the Qin Dynasty two thousand years ago. This is what it feels like.”

“Thank you, Wuyan,” Su Nianqin’s lips curved upwards, forming a smile.
