Just as Yu Wange was about to leave, heaven and earth suddenly underwent an anomaly.

Yu Chengguang’s pupils constricted slightly. The spiritual energy within his body involuntarily began to circulate faster. He noticed that the Green Spirit Heart Protection Bracelet on his daughter’s wrist suddenly glowed abnormally, as if sensing a huge threat.

With a “clatter,” a glazed tile fell from the eaves outside the window, shattering into pieces on the bluestone slab.

The hundred-year-old phoenix tree in the courtyard swayed wildly, its thick branches groaning under the strain.

A withered leaf twirled and drifted through the window lattice. Yu Wange reached out to catch it, only to find that the edge of the leaf was covered in a thin layer of white frost.

“Something’s wrong!” Yu Chengguang abruptly stood up and rushed out of the room.

Yu Wange hurriedly followed.

When the father and daughter rushed out the door, the sight before them made Yu Wange’s breath catch.

The originally clear blue sky was now stained as if an inkwell had been overturned. Thick, dark clouds surged from all directions, covering more than half of the sky in the blink of an eye. Those dark clouds rolled and twisted, vaguely forming countless ferocious beast heads, opening their monstrous mouths in silent roars.

“What’s going on?” Yu Wange unconsciously bit her lower lip, only realizing she had broken the skin when she tasted iron.

She stared intently at a flash of crimson light that flickered through the gaps in the clouds. The color was blindingly vivid, like the eye of some great demon.

Yu Chengguang’s Adam’s apple bobbed violently, and fine beads of sweat seeped from his temples.

As a Foundation Establishment peak cultivator who had lived for over a hundred years, he knew better than his daughter what this meant.

The spiritual energy in his body vibrated frantically, and a sharp pain shot through his Spirit Platform.

“A great demon undergoing a lightning tribulation…” His voice was as dry as sandpaper, and his right hand unconsciously pressed on his storage bag, where he kept three Earth Escape Talismans for self-preservation. “At least a sixth-tier great demon is undergoing tribulation!”

As if to confirm his judgment, a purplish-black lightning bolt suddenly tore through the sky.

When the lightning flashed, Yu Wange was horrified to discover that the buildings of the entire Qingyang City were strangely twisting and deforming. The bronze bells under the eaves swayed wildly, emitting a bone-chilling hum.

From the distant marketplace came the panicked screams of the common people, interspersed with the heart-wrenching cries of children.

“Father!” Yu Wange suddenly grabbed her father’s arm, her fingernails almost digging into his flesh. She trembled, pointing to the depths of the clouds, where a few golden scales vaguely emerged. Each one was the size of a millstone, and the cold light they reflected stung her eyes, making them tear up.

Yu Chengguang’s face instantly turned ashen.

He remembered the abnormal tremors of the City Lord’s Mansion’s earth脉 detection array half a month ago, and the recent rumors of the “Dragon’s Roar Gorge Anomaly.” A terrifying conjecture surfaced in his heart. Could it be that the Golden-Scaled Flood Dragon, which should have been dormant in the abyss, chose to undergo tribulation in the densely populated Qingyang City?

On the cliff thirty miles away, Elder Li Hanqiong of the Plum-Winged Sect’s Enforcement Hall stood with his hands behind his back.

The mountain wind ruffled the hem of his gray robe, revealing the pitch-black demon-slaying sword at his waist. The seven chains wrapped around the scabbard moved without wind, rattling with a “clatter.”

Wind blades were like knives, but they were blocked by his sword qi three feet in front of him.

“Senior Brother, this tribulation cloud is a bit abnormal.” His junior brother, Sun Wuhui, a portly figure, stumbled out of the void, the flab at his waist shaking continuously with his hurried breathing.

The Bagua Mirror in his hand was already covered in spiderweb-like cracks. The dark clouds reflected in the mirror even showed crimson lightning coursing through them. “This might is comparable to a nine-nine lightning tribulation. Could this beast be trying to transcend tribulation to become a dragon?”

Li Hanqiong’s bony fingers gently caressed the dark patterns on the sword hilt, which were soul-devouring patterns left by slaying demons and monsters.

“Three hundred years,” his voice was like it was dredged from an ice cave, but a cruel arc formed on his lips, “This is the first demon to draw a nine-nine lightning tribulation.”

Li Hanqiong was somewhat worried internally, but thinking of the various benefits of demon spirits, his gaze became resolute again.

Sun Wuhui looked at the golden dragon shadow, appearing and disappearing in the clouds, his small eyes flickering with a mixture of greed and fear: “If it’s truly a great demon that triggered a nine-nine lightning tribulation, then the demon spirit within it might be comparable to a Soul Transformation Pill, no, it should be far beyond a Soul Transformation Pill.”

“Boom—”

A lightning bolt as thick as a bucket struck the valley three miles away. The entire cliff trembled.

Amidst the falling rocks, Li Hanqiong’s pupils suddenly constricted to pinpoint size. He clearly saw that the golden figure in the lightning not only didn’t dodge, but instead opened its giant mouth and swallowed the falling lightning alive.

At the same time, on the high mountain west of Qingyang City, Ye Gubai, the Head of the Sword Pavilion of the Profound Heaven Sect, wore white robes as white as snow.

His long fingers gently plucked the scorched-tail guqin, and the string music transformed into visible ripples, completely neutralizing the lingering thunder from afar.

“Interesting.” A cold arc formed on his lips. His left fingertip gently brushed against a string, and a drop of crimson blood pearl rolled down the silver string. “I didn’t expect to encounter a flood dragon about to transform into a dragon in this remote place.”

Deeper in the distant forest, over a dozen pairs of glowing eyes were staring intently at the sky. A snow-white fox with a jade-like face stood upright, its front paws human-like as it stroked its whiskers: “Golden scales transforming into a dragon… hehe… those human cultivators are probably going to fight tooth and nail for it…” Behind her, a massive black bear demon kept licking its bone-white fangs, saliva soaking the fur on its chest, forming a small puddle on the ground.

And deep within the clouds, unseen by everyone, those golden vertical pupils coldly overlooked all living beings, ancient runes flickering on every scale…

Yu Wanwan looked up at the rolling tribulation clouds in the sky. Every flash of lightning reflected a terrifying golden light in her pupils.

“A sixth-tier peak Golden-Scaled Flood Dragon,” she murmured to herself. She remembered this plot vividly from the original novel: the Golden-Scaled Flood Dragon was supposed to undergo tribulation five months later on the night of the full moon. At that time, it would be destroyed by Nascent Soul cultivators and, in a fit of rage, self-destonate its demonic core, destroying the entire Qingyang City and annihilating the Yu family. But now, the trajectory of fate had actually been forced forward!

A purple lightning bolt struck, making her eardrums ache. Yu Wanwan clearly saw that the winding golden figure in the clouds was several times larger than described in the original novel, every reverse scale reflecting a chilling cold light. This was definitely not the might an ordinary sixth-tier demonic beast should possess.

“The plot has changed…” she forced herself to calm down. “Is it because of my transmigration that the novel’s timeline changed?”

Yu Chengguang stared anxiously at the direction where the tribulation clouds gathered. Yu Wange opened her mouth, just about to say something, when Yu Chengguang suddenly received a message: “All Foundation Establishment cultivators, quickly come to the City Lord’s Mansion to preside over the city protection array. Any delay will result in severe punishment.”

The Qingyang City Lord’s summons was only issued when Qingyang City faced a critical moment of life and death.

“Father!” Yu Wange suddenly grabbed his sleeve, exerting so much force that she tore a crack in the fine cloud-patterned brocade. “Don’t go!”

“Nonsense!” Yu Chengguang roared. A golden light flew out of his sleeve and landed in Yu Wange’s palm. It was a talisman emitting a yellowish spiritual light. “This is an Earth Escape Talisman. If the city protection array is broken, immediately use it to escape this place and go to the Plum-Winged Sect!”

Yu Chengguang then rushed to the array’s gathering point.

It wasn’t that he cared so much about protecting the city and its people; he just didn’t want the Yu family to be annihilated in this disaster.

Looking at Yu Chengguang’s retreating back, a surge of sorrow rose within Yu Wange.

If one wasn’t strong enough, they could only leave it to fate, and that wasn’t what she wanted.

“Disciple, this is a Golden-Scaled Flood Dragon undergoing a nine-nine lightning tribulation. I’m afraid Qingyang City will be affected. Hurry and get the jade pendant and leave this place!” The ring on Yu Wange’s hand glowed, and then an old voice came.

Yu Wange bit her lip. She understood that now was not the time for indecision. “Understood, Master. I’m going to get the jade pendant now. If Yu Wanwan doesn’t give it, I’ll take it by force!”

“You must get it!” A ruthless glint flashed in Yu Wange’s eyes.
