“Hiss, hiss…”

A faint rustling sound, a golden thread-like small snake poked its head out from her sleeve, its vertical pupils gleaming in the darkness. “Little girl, these two small fries were likely instructed by someone, specifically to take your life.”

Yu Wanwan stood up, her brows slightly furrowed, her voice clear and cold, carrying a subtle chill. “Who would hate me so much? Just started in the sect and can’t wait to get rid of me?”

A name quickly flashed through her mind. “Yu Wange? She thinks highly of herself. Would she use such underhanded tactics?”

The little golden snake scoffed, coiling around Yu Wanwan’s wrist. The cold touch of its scales made her even more clear-headed: “Hmph, that tea master’s methods are a bit low, but when jealousy acts up, who knows if she’ll desperation? However…”

It tilted its small head, flicking its tongue. “Zhao Tieshan, the one you offended in the Spirit Beast Garden, is more likely. That guy looks like someone narrow-minded and vengeful.

When you left the sect to report to the Deacon Hall, he must have known your whereabouts.

Hiring assassins, for an outer sect deacon with a bit of power and influence like him, the motive and conditions are too sufficient.”

Yu Wanwan remained silent for a moment. Little Gold Snake’s analysis was meticulous.

Yu Wange’s methods were insidious, but more inclined to suppress her within the rules, making her lose her reputation.

As for Zhao Tieshan, that day in the Spirit Beast Garden, the venom and threat in his eyes, she remembered clearly.

This direct, brutal method of silencing someone was indeed more like what a small-time villain, enraged and with some resources, would do.

“You’re right.” Yu Wanwan’s voice turned cold, her eyes sharp as knives. “Zhao Tieshan, I’ll remember this debt.”

She was not one to swallow her anger.

Revenge, definitely!

Strength was the only truth.

“Alright, put aside the minor grudge for now.”

The little golden snake used its cold, slimy tail tip to pat Yu Wanwan’s hand, with a hint of impatient urging. “This place is not suitable to stay long. The smell of blood is too strong. If we stay any longer, we might attract some more ‘hospitable’ guys.

Didn’t you promise this Grandpa you’d find water-attribute heavenly materials and earthly treasures to help me recover my cultivation?

Speaking of recovering cultivation, the little golden snake’s pea-sized eyes instantly flared with brilliance. Its slender body tensed like a golden thread, and its head was held high: “Cold Pond Jade Marrow! Profound Yin Spirit Grass! Failing that, at least a century-old Water Cloud Essence!

These things are the key to this Grandpa’s breakthrough.

My current body is too weak. I’m even afraid of spraining my waist if I sneeze. So frustrating! So frustrating!”

Looking at its anxious, as if it would dart out any second, appearance, Yu Wanwan’s tense nerves relaxed a bit, and a faint smile involuntarily touched her lips.

This little snake, greedy and arrogant, was quite interesting.

“Got it, got it,” she shook her head helplessly, her tone tinged with indulgence. “You greedy snake. Green Water Pool, here we come.”

She always kept her word. Since she had promised the little golden snake to find water-attribute heavenly materials and earthly treasures for it, she would never break her promise.

“Little girl, you’re a person of your word. This Grandpa wasn’t wrong about you!”

Hearing this, the little golden snake immediately let out a satisfied “hiss,” agilely coiling around her slender wrist, transforming into a lifelike golden bracelet. However, the “bracelet” was still restlessly wiggling, conveying its master’s impatience. “Go quickly, go quickly. This Grandpa’s sensitive nose has already sniffed the sweet, pure water spiritual energy from afar. I’m dying of thirst!”

Yu Wanwan no longer delayed. She quickly and carefully cleaned up the traces of her stay, erased her aura, and her figure swept out of the Blazing Rift’s range like a wisp of smoke.

It took Yu Wanwan a full day to travel from the scorching, barren Blazing Rift to the misty Green Water Pool.

Along the way, she fed the miniature Flame-Winged Tiger cub in her Sea of Consciousness the Molten Heart Fruit she obtained from the rift.

After the little guy swallowed the fruit, it coiled up in a corner of her Sea of Consciousness, its body emitting a faint red glow, beginning to refine the energy of this fire-attribute spiritual fruit.

“Little guy, hurry up and grow,” Yu Wanwan observed her Sea of Consciousness, looking at the small fire cloud, and mused, “Once you grow wings and can carry me in flight, that’s truly impressive.”

Thinking of the vast resources needed to cultivate this Flame-Winged Tiger—fire-attribute spiritual fruits, various pills, massive amounts of spirit stones… she couldn’t help but inwardly click her tongue. “The path of cultivation is indeed filled with gold-swallowing beasts at every turn.”

When the scene before her suddenly opened up, even with Yu Wanwan’s steady temperament, her eyes couldn’t help but light up, and her mood became relaxed.

Green Water Pool!

The scene before her was completely different from the scorching desolation of the Blazing Rift, as if she had stepped into another world.

The sky was as clear blue as if freshly washed, with a few wisps of white clouds drifting lazily by. What met her eyes were layers upon layers of varying shades of green. Ancient trees reached to the sky, their branches and leaves lush, with countless aerial roots hanging down like natural curtains.

The pool water was crystal clear to the bottom, like a giant, flowing piece of jade, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and the surrounding greenery.

On the water’s surface, a faint white mist hovered, carrying a refreshing coolness and dense water spiritual energy.

Strange flowers and exotic grasses bloomed competitively on the shore, in vibrant reds and purples, exuding a sweet fragrance.

Various brightly feathered birds with clear calls hopped and played in the branches, full of vitality, like a paradise untouched by the world.

“What a good place!”

The little golden snake excitedly wriggled on her wrist: “The water spiritual energy is so dense, this Grandpa feels his scales unfolding!”

Yu Wanwan took a deep breath of the fresh air, mixed with moisture and floral scent, and felt much of the fatigue from her days of travel dissipate.

She didn’t immediately begin searching for the little golden snake. Instead, she found a secluded, dry bluestone near the pool where spiritual energy was particularly abundant, and sat down cross-legged.

“What’s the rush? The spiritual energy here is so dense, it’s perfect for cultivation.”

Yu Wanwan found a quiet spot and with a flick of her hand, solemnly took out an item from her storage pouch.

It was precisely the Thousand-Year Earth Core Fruit obtained from the depths of the Blazing Rift.

The fruit, the size of a baby’s fist, was entirely crimson. Its surface was covered with naturally formed profound fire patterns, as if magma was slowly flowing over its skin.

A pure and dominant fire-attribute energy fluctuation, even from a distance, could clearly feel the immense heat it contained.

Even stranger, the fruit seemed to have a faint life pulsation, a trace of elusive spirituality dormant within its core.

A Tier 2 fire-attribute spiritual herb.

Even more, it was a rare treasure that had already given birth to a trace of intelligence.

If this item were auctioned on the black market, old geezers nearing the end of their lifespans would purchase it for at least tens of thousands of low-grade spirit stones to temper their bodies and extend their lifespans.

It held inestimable benefits for her cultivation of the Scarlet Feather Burning Heaven Art and tempering her physical body.

“You’re going to refine it here?” The little golden snake poked its head out, looking at the crimson fruit, its tone somewhat surprised. “Isn’t that a bit too extravagant? If you sold it, it could fetch at least fifty thousand low-grade spirit stones.”

“Converting it into money is not as good as absorbing and refining it myself. As long as my strength increases, why worry about not earning fifty thousand?”

Little Gold nodded, agreeing with her words.

“Little girl, you picked a good spot. This place is lush with vegetation, and with the Profound Yin water qi from the Green Water Pool, it is indeed a good place to refine the Thousand-Year Earth Core Fruit.”

“Water and fire complement each other, yin and yang generate each other. This is the Great Dao,” Yu Wanwan’s eyes were resolute.

She circulated the Scarlet Feather Burning Heaven Art, carefully separating a wisp of pure fire-attribute spiritual energy, like the most agile carving knife, slowly wrapping around a corner of the Thousand-Year Earth Core Fruit.

“Hiss!”

The moment her spiritual energy touched the fruit’s skin, an astonishing heatwave suddenly erupted. A crimson light instantly lit up from the point of contact, like a small sun born in her palm. The violent and pure fire elemental energy, like an unbridled wild horse, surged roughly into her meridians along with her spiritual energy.

“Ugh!” Yu Wanwan groaned, her face instantly flushed red.

The energy was too domineering. Wherever it passed, her meridians felt a stinging pain, as if they were being torn and incinerated.

All the blood in her body seemed to boil. Fine beads of sweat instantly seeped from her skin, then rapidly evaporated under the high temperature, forming a faint white mist that lingered around her body.

She immediately circulated the Scarlet Feather Burning Heaven Art with all her might. The spiritual energy vortex in her Dantian spun frantically, desperately guiding and refining this violent torrent.

In her Sea of Consciousness, the Phoenix True Blood pendant also grew slightly hot. A cool and noble will permeated, helping her suppress the violent fire elemental energy.

Even the Flame-Winged Tiger sensed it and began to help Yu Wanwan guide this fire elemental energy.

This was an extremely perilous and painful process.

Yu Wanwan clenched her jaw tightly, veins throbbing on her forehead. Sweat drenched her clothes, then dried under the high temperature, leaving white salt stains.

Her body was like a furnace roasted over a fierce fire.

However, amidst the pain, came immense gains.

Having only refined one purification of the Thousand-Year Earth Core Fruit, Yu Wanwan clearly felt:

Due to the scouring of that violent fire elemental energy, her several main meridians were forcibly widened a bit, and their韧性 (toughness) was greatly enhanced, allowing them to contain and circulate even more massive spiritual energy.

The newly surged pure fire elemental energy, after being refined by the cultivation method, flowed into her Dantian, making her original spiritual energy further purified and compressed. Its color became deeper crimson, and the power it contained grew even stronger.

The domineering fire elemental energy permeated her flesh and bones, like an invisible forging hammer striking.

She could feel her muscle fibers becoming denser, her bones faintly showing a jade-like luster, and a sense of power spontaneously arising.

Even tiny black impurities seeped from the surface of her skin.

The operation trajectory of the Scarlet Feather Burning Heaven Art became smoother and more refined. The first layer, Scarlet Feather Body Forging, was completely cultivated to great perfection.

Her cultivation also successfully reached the fifth layer of Qi Condensation.

“Hoo…” After a long time, Yu Wanwan slowly exhaled a scorching breath. The breath, upon leaving her body, actually turned into a faint crimson ribbon of light, instantly scorching a small blade of grass in front of her.

She opened her eyes, a crimson streamer seemingly flashing and disappearing within them. Her entire spirit and energy had elevated a notch, yet her foundation became even more profound and solid. Her cultivation had also smoothly reached the fifth layer of Qi Condensation.

Looking at the Thousand-Year Earth Core Fruit in her palm, whose glow had slightly dimmed but still exuded immense energy, Yu Wanwan’s eyes were filled with awe and fervor: “As expected of a Tier 2 spiritual fruit that has gained intelligence. Just refining a trace of it has such miraculous effects!”

On her wrist, the little golden snake also smacked its lips, its tone tinged with a sour envy: “Tsk tsk, you little girl, your luck is quite good. With the help of the Phoenix essence blood and the big orange cat, you refined an essence so easily.”

Yu Wanwan put away the Earth Core Fruit. Feeling the surging power within her, she was in a great mood. She looked at the deep pool with its rippling waves: “I’m going to take a bath. Little Gold, you’re not allowed to peek.”
